Rey Swimwear + Noonday Giveaway!

We have loved Noonday from the moment we discovered them.  Last year, our founders met and just knew they'd have to collaborate together.  Jessica Rey caught up with Jessica Honegger about the 'why' behind her brand and where she's headed this summer. 

1. Jessica Rey: Jessica- we adore your beautiful collection- tell us the WHY behind Noonday.

When I was 15 and traveled to Kenya for the first time, my eyes were truly opened to the issues of global poverty. But they were also opened to the power of a dignified job. While in Kenya, I saw a woman who was running a brightly colored fruit stand with a micro loan she had received from an international organization. It became clear to me that with just a little opportunity, people living in vulnerable communities around the world could truly flourish. So today, Noonday Collection is all about creating dignified work for talented Artisans around the world. By selling their beautiful products to women here in the US, we create a marketplace that allows Artisan Businesses to grow and offer jobs to even more people in their communities

2. Rey: Wow! At 15, that is quite impressive! Why do you think Noonday & Rey Swimwear make a great pair?

I love how Rey Swimwear’s suits empower women to feel beautiful without making them feel pressured to be a size zero! Their suits are vintage-inspired and completely gorgeous on any body type. At Noonday we are all about pursuing the dignity of all women and empowering them to own their unique beauty. Whether it’s an Artisan who comes to understand her own worth because of a dignified job, or a customer here in the US whose Noonday pieces allow her to feel pretty and special!

 3. Rey: You are a world traveler- where are you going for your next getaway?

I am so excited to travel with a group of our world changing Noonday Ambassadors to Peru! Each summer, we invite our Ambassadors to earn a trip to meet our Artisan Partners across the globe. In addition to Peru, this summer we are traveling to Guatemala and Uganda. I love seeing the connections that form when women connect across cultures. It’s a truly beautiful thing and I can’t wait to explore Peru with my tribe this summer!

 4. Rey: And what are those 'must-have' items you'll be jet setting with?

A neutral statement necklace like our Modern Romance Necklace is a must-have for me. It’s made of paper beads from Uganda so it’s tough enough to withstand travel and it looks great with everything! A good book (or 2, or 3 — I’m currently loving the “Girls” series by my friend Rachel Hollis). Dr. Bronner’s Fair Trade Peppermint Soap is a great way to freshen up after a long day of travel. And a wear-with-all scarf like our new San Juan Sarong that works as a cover-up for your Rey Swimwear suit, a wrap to warm me up for an evening walk on the beach, or as a fun scarf.
