Hi! I'm Jessica Rey- I'm a swimsuit designer who can't draw, sew, or swim! Wait... what??? How in the world did that happen? After college, I moved to LA to get my MBA and worked at a television production company as an accountant (a very exciting job if you love excel spreadsheets and calculators). A talent manager suggested I try acting and, though I thought she was crazy, I gave it a try. I ended up booking my first few commercial auditions and found that I really enjoyed it. After about a year, I decided to find a television/film agent. No one would sign me because... well...I had no experience except for commercials and had never taken an acting class. I ended up finding a tiny agency that agreed to take me on and booked my first television audition as the White Power Ranger on Disney's Power Rangers Wild Force. It was pretty much the best job I had ever had- I mean, who doesn't want to be a superhero everyday? I also have my own action figure (don't be jealous). I continued acting after that and landed more guest starring and recurring roles on tv.
My daily “uniform” was a bikini because hanging out at the pool between auditions and jobs became my life. One day, after much contemplation and research, I decided I was done with bikinis (watch my talk 'The Evolution of the Swimsuit' for a tiny glimpse of the 'why' behind this decision, but many factors lead to this- more than can be explained in a 9 minute video. If you want to know more, come to one of my talks or read my book 'Decent Exposure'). After shopping for an alternative to a bikini and not finding one that didn't make me look three times my age, I decided to make my own. Many of my friends wanted one too, so I put my MBA to use and started my own company: Rey Swimwear.
In 2017, eight years after founding Rey Swimwear, I launched a line of dresses, skirts, and tops-- Estella (named after my beautiful mother, whom I miss dearly, and my daughter). Both Rey Swimwear and Estella draw inspiration from Audrey Hepburn- timeless and feminine. I am committed to ethical sourcing and production and only work with manufacturers who share these values. I believe in the dignity of all people- those who make my clothing and those who wear it.
I'm also a wife and mommy to three littles (above all, that's the best job I've ever had- yes, even better than being a Power Ranger). I love to travel and salted caramel is my weakness. Perhaps we will meet one day at a talk or comic con. Until then, you can see more of my crazy life on social media.
I am a plus-size girl and mom, so it’s hard to find swim bottoms that fit around the waist. Surprisingly, the high-waist bottoms from Jessica Rey fit the bill, providing both ample coverage and comfort.
High quality fabric, soft and comfortable stylish bathers. Come summer, me and my two kids will be matchy matchy! My boy is tall and slim - the draw string adds flexibility for size.
I like the quality and the design. You feel you have modesty and you are feminine. And it's so flattering! With this swim dress you definitely want to go the beach. I also find it very useful to wear it while walking along the coast paths and then directly have a bath whenever you are tired of walking and you find a small bay. I will sure buy more swim dresses!
My daughter wears this all day as a playsuit/romper and then can swim/play in the water as well! Great quality fabric, beautiful patterned and lovely colors, great design for active little girls! 8 year old, lean/athletic build and wearing size 8 normally, sizing chart worked great and it fits amazing!
These are very nice, comfortable shorts. Please make them in more colors. I’m 120lb and the size small fit perfectly. Only one suggestion: the undershorts roll up so maybe if they were longer they would stay in place?
